CITIZENSHIP:

Citizenship is an important identity of Canadian society. Canadian citizenship may be granted to foreign nationals who meet all the requirements of the citizenship Act. Canadian citizenship may be obtained by birth on Canadian soil, with limited exceptions and foreign nationals born abroad in the first generation to a Canadian citizen parent, with some exceptions. Canada also recognizes dual citizenship. 

·         Be a Canadian permanent resident.

·         Must be living in Canada three years (1,095 days) out of five years.

·         Must meet language requirements and pass a knowledge test.

·         Must file Canadian income taxes.

·         Must not have been convicted of domestic or foreign criminal charges.
